With a number of catering options and a fully-stocked bar, we are perfectly suited to accommodate you from “I do” to “Let’s dance!” Use our Bose sound system or bring a small band on board. We can accommodate all kinds of requests for your Boston Harbor cruise wedding. Wedding Charters FAQ

  • Chevron down How many people does the space hold- seated for the ceremony and standing?
  • LIBERTY CLIPPER fits 100 on deck standing and sitting combination, and 40 below decks in the Grand Salon.  LIBERTY STAR fits 39 on deck standing and sitting combination.

  • Chevron down Are chairs provided for the guests?
  • It depends on the size of your party.  We have available seating on deck (benches and folding chairs) as well as plenty of standing room.

  • Chevron down If the space is bigger than what we need, are areas roped off?
  • When you book a charter with us you are entitled to use the whole ship. If you would like us to rope off areas for your event to create a more intimate feeling we would be happy to do so.

  • Chevron down How large is the ship’s crew? What is their uniform?
  • 8-10 crew members (excludes caterers and entertainers).  Our crew wears a white Liberty Fleet polo and khaki pants or shorts.

  • Chevron down How much shade is there on the deck?
  • When the sails are up, you will always have shade on one side of the ship.  Or if you prefer, we can put up our awning which covers most of the deck.

  • Chevron down Will the officiant and speakers use/need a microphone?
  • A microphone and sound system are available; depending on the number of guests and where you would like to have the ceremony, it may be necessary.

  • Chevron down Is there a room in which my attendants and I can dress?
  • The Grand Salon is available, although we have windows and hatches which will make it difficult to maintain any privacy.  One of our cabins could be used to change clothes as long as you can climb from below decks in your dress!

  • Chevron down Are there guest restrooms on board?
  • There are up to 4 restrooms available.

  • Chevron down Can we hire outside musicians to play?
  • Yes – however no more than 4 musicians is recommended.

  • Chevron down Are there any restrictions regarding instruments or power?
  • 110 volt and 220 volt power.

  • Chevron down Is there space for musicians to set up?
  • Yes

  • Chevron down Are there ample electrical outlets to suit their needs?
  • Yes

  • Chevron down Is photography or videography permitted?
  • Of course!

  • Chevron down Is there a good spot for taking formal pictures?
  • Yes, on the ship in the Boston Harbor!

  • Chevron down Can we bring in our own flowers?
  • Yes, please do.

  • Chevron down Can the ceremony be catered?
  • Yes.  Please select from our caterers – The Silent Chef, Above & Beyond Catering, and others.  (Catering on a Tall Ship requires training and advanced special planning) See our information on our caterers.  Keep in mind that there is very limited formal seating area on the Liberty Clipper.

  • Chevron down Is there a bar? Do you provide a bartender?
  • Yes, we have a full liquor license and can offer a cash bar, or choose from our bar packages.

  • Chevron down Can we bring any decorations?
  • Yes, as long as the decorations do not obstruct our working vessel.

  • Chevron down Is there someone on your staff to help coordinate a rehearsal?
  • We do not have staff to help run a rehearsal for you, but we can help give you access to the space.

  • Chevron down Is there someone on your staff to help coordinate details like seating guests, cuing members of the processional, and setting up a space for programs?
  • We are happy to work with a wedding planner of your choosing. The majority of our involvement will be as a venue.

  • Chevron down Is there a suitable spot for a receiving line?
  • Yes, many different spaces on board would work for a receiving line.

  • Chevron down Is throwing birdseed or blowing bubbles allowed after the ceremony?
  • Bubbles are allowed.  No birdseed or rice, please.

  • Chevron down Do you have liability insurance?
  • Yes

  • Chevron down What is the fee for use of this ship?
  • It varies by time of year and hours chosen.  We will customize your package to meet your specific needs and budget.  Please contact us for a quote.

  • Chevron down How much of a deposit is required and when?
  • A 50% deposit is requested when you sign your charter contract. The additional 50% is required no later than 60 days before your event.

  • Chevron down Is gratuity included?
  • Yes, 10-15% of total Charter Costs is included in your quote.

  • Chevron down Is there a cleaning deposit?
  • No.

  • Chevron down When is the balance due?
  • 60 days prior to the event date.

  • Chevron down What is the cancellation policy?
  • We sail rain or shine. If we cancel due to threatening weather, we can reschedule your charter.  If the charterer cancels we cannot provide a refund.  Consider weather insurance if you don’t want to use our awning (though some of our most beautiful weddings have been in the rain!).

  • Chevron down Is the captain able to act as officiant?
  • A ship’s captain generally does not have the legal right to perform a wedding at sea. In order for a Captain of a ship to perform a marriage at sea, he must also be a judge, a justice of the peace, a minister, or an officially recognized officiant such as a Notary Public.  You will need to arrange your own officiant.

  • Chevron down How much of the allotted cruising time will be used for setup, safety talk, etc.?
  • Boarding time will be 15 minutes prior to the sail; it will take 10-15 minutes to go over our safety speech and get underway.
