Am I really staying on a boat?

Yes!  We have no dockside or land-based accommodations.  Your cabins are actually on a tall ship!

Is the boat tied up at night?

Yes.  Each evening our ships are tied securely to the dock at Central Wharf next to the New England Aquarium.

Is breakfast served in the morning?

While we do not provide breakfast on board, there are several great options for you to grab something in the morning nearby!  A Liberty Fleet favorite is Nunzio's just across Atlantic Avenue on State Street, or venture into the North End for a delicious pastry!

Is there parking?

We do not have private parking for guests, but there are several garages in downtown Boston.  See our DIRECTIONS page for information about nearby parking options.

Why can I only stay 3 nights?

Due to limited accessbility and the "rustic" nature of our cabins, we find that most guests enjoy shorter stays rather than extended ones.

Why can't you accommodate late check-ins and arrival times?

Our office closes promptly at 6:00 PM and the ships leave for their sunset sails at 6:00 and 6:30, so we will unfortunately not be able to assist you after this time.  If you run into travel delays, please call us at 617-742-0333.

Do I really need to meet the ship after its last sail for boarding?

Yes.  To make your stay with us more enjoyable, please plan to meet the ship for boarding when it returns after the last sail of the day on the first night of your stay so the crew can show you to your room and how to use the facilities on board.

My travel plans are delayed, what should I do?

Please call our office as soon as possible at 617-742-0333.

Can I stay in my cabin during the day?

As our ships run several harbor sails during the day, we cannot allow any overnight guests to stay on board while the ship is working.  You are, of course, welcome to come aboard for most sails at a 30% discount!  Besides, there are lots of places in Boston to explore - come by our office for maps and suggestions about things to see and how to get there!

Are these accommodations appropriate for children?

Children must be 8 years old and must have an adult staying with them in their cabin.

Is there WiFi on the ships?

We do not have WiFi service available on board.  There is a limited connection along the Harbor Walk on the Long Wharf and Central Wharf areas.  If you require something a little more robust, the are a number of coffee shops in the area with free WiFi and some semi-public access at the Marriott Long Wharf.

Tall Ship Accommodations

Cozy cabins on the Liberty ClipperOur ships were built to provide comfort to overnight passengers in cozy, rustic-style cabins.  They are comfortably furnished with soft mattresses and pillows and all linens.  Much like a hostel, most cabins share a common bathroom and shower (called a "head" on a boat!).  These heads are a combined toilet and shower room and operate similarly to facilities on land.  Solo travelers are likely to be paired with another solo traveler of the same gender unless a private single room is booked.

We recommend that you pack lightly when possible in a soft-sided duffel as storage is limited in your cabin!  If you are visiting Boston as part of a longer trip, you will probably find it helpful to pack the items you will need during your stay in a smaller, separate bag.

Amenities

  • All cabins come furnished with sheets, blankets, pillowcase, and towels.
  • 110-volt outlets are available in each cabin for charging electronic devices
  • All cabins have skylights/hatches and small fans for ventilation
  • Shared bathroom/shower facilities do NOT have toiletries, so please bring your own.
  • Limited storage is available under the bunks.

Check-In / Check-Out

Check-in: 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Check-out: 10:00 AM

You must check in at our office (located at 67 Long Wharf, across from the where the boats are docked at Central Wharf) between the hours of 10 AM and 5:30 PM.  You may drop off your bags at our office and they will be transferred to the ship before the last sail of the day (typically before 6:00 PM).  We are unable to accommodate for check-ins later than 6:00 PM.

Once the ship has returned after its last sail of the day, you must meet it at the dock on your first night to be shown to your cabin and receive some brief ship orientation.  This typically occurs at 8:30 PM, or immediately following the last scheduled sail. On Saturday nights, orientation will typically begin at 10:30 PM. Because you will have to climb down a steep ladder to access your cabin, it is important that a crew member show you where to go and how to move around the ship safely.

The orientation will take only a few minutes.  After that, you may come and go as you please for the evening.

NOTE: The orientation is required only for the first evening of your stay.  If you are staying 2 or 3 nights, you do not need to meet the ship each evening.

Boarding and Disembarking

Guests will not have access to their cabins before 8:30 PM at the earliest (you will be informed at check in what time the ship will be available for boarding that evening).  You will meet the ship over at Central Wharf and will be shown your cabin by a crew member.  Your bags will be waiting for you in your cabin!

Guests are asked to disembark the ship no later than 10:00 AM the following morning so that the crew can ready the ship for the first sail of the day.

Accessibility

Because our ships do multiple public sails during the day, you will not have access to your cabin until after the last sail of the day, typically after 8:00 PM. On Saturday evenings, the ship typically does not return until 10:00 PM. Keep in mind that the boarding time is subject to change. Be sure double check the boarding time in the office during check in.

In general, you will not have access to your cabin between the hours of 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM unless otherwise specified.

3 Night Maximum Stay

For the optimum enjoyment of our guests, we have a maximum limit of a 3 night stay.

Age Requirement

Due to the nature of our ships, we require that children must be 8 years old to stay overnight and must be accompanied by an adult in the same cabin.
