A relaxing Windjammer barefoot Cruise in the Bahamas

A relaxing Windjammer barefoot Cruise in the Bahamas

What is Luxury?  It means many things to many people.  For us, a week in the Bahamas aboard the Liberty Clipper has been luxury!  To disconnect from a past paced life and reconnect with "life at sea" is a gift.  Sailing, true sailing, on Liberty Clipper allows us to feel the rhythms Mother Nature has so long played.  Snorkeling and swimming right off the ship gives us sweet glimpses of the beauties she offers for us who are lucky enough to enjoy them.  Mere humans are we!

Enough waxing like the moon-Pancho and I thank the great crew for taking good care of us and for being interested in the craft of tall ship sailing.  It is an admirable passion.  Thanks to Jan for providing fine meals from a small galley.

We loved having only 6 passengers and were lucky that we all got along well with much laughter and camaraderie.

We have been windjammer barefoot cruise people in the past, having sailed on the Yankee Clipper, the Polynesia and the Legacy.  They were lots of fun with lots of activities.  I liked this week aboard the Liberty Clipper because we did not have all that- so simple, so relaxing, so often quiet (except for Maggies giggles-so sweet)-so back to what's real.

Thank You all,

Tall Ship Windjammer cruise on the Liberty Star in the British Virgin Islands

Tall Ship Windjammer cruise on the Liberty Star in the British Virgin Islands

Capt. Carlos, Mate Scott and Cook Tia were warm and welcoming. All shared stories from their life.  Everyone was focused on making sure we were comfortable and happy. The crew spoke highly of Carlos and everyone was working as a team.  Tia, Scott and Carlos balance each other well.  Scott offered great tips on snorkeling, had patience with rigging questions and made it enjoyable to join in hoisting sail on a tall ship!.  I have to say that your team far exceeded my expectations. Tia ROCKS!  The meals were delicious. She made sure we enjoyed the food and asked about our likes and dislikes. Again, she was fantastic - we basically had a personal chef!

This was my first time to the Virgin Islands. I felt like we received an intimate, personal tour of all of the best places including the well known and little known.  Carlos provided history of the area or ship wreck when he knew the history. Everyone had a wonderful personality and felt like family after just one day on board.  I can't say enough about the crew.  I will recommend d this to friends and family. In fact, I hope to get enough to join me to fill the Liberty Star next winter on another cruise in the BVI!

Third time aboard the Windjammer Liberty Clipper in the Bahamas for vacation!

It was such a joy to come back to the Bahamas for a third time of sailing on my first tall ship love, the Liberty Clipper.  Going to the Exumas was really a dream come true; so I really want to thank Captain Chris for making that happen, and thank you to the awesome crew for making it so much fun and so memorable.  Fair winds and following seas to Chris, Jon, Maggie, Clint, Jan, Sean, Amanda, Jason and Mike.  I will think of your often and hope we meet again someday.

My dream vacation sailing a windjammer in the Exuma islands!

My dream vacation sailing a windjammer in the Exuma islands!

Woohoo!

It's hard to find the words to describe the pure joy we found this week aboard the Liberty Clipper.  It wasn't just a vacation in the Caribbean, or an adventure in sailing the Bahamas, or a voyage through the Exuma Isands; it was so much more.  We have dreamed of cruising on a tall ship for years; why did we let life get in the way before!?!  It's all about the memories.  To all of the crew: Captain Matt, Jon, Clint, Derrick, Sean, Tom, Amanda, Jan, and Mike, you wove yourselves into our hearts and memories.  To all-follow your dreams, keep expounding your dreams, and conquer your fears (like climbing to the cross tree platform-how incredible!).

It was so much fun being able to work with the crew on the ship!  We were able to do everything we talked about.  Thank you all for making this a vacation we will remember forever.  May the Lord bless every one of you.

Sailing to the end of the world on a Classic Windjammer in the Bahamas

Great crew, thanks for attending so well to our enjoyment.  Amanda, Clint, Jon, Tom, Sean, Derrick, Jan, Mike, Captain Matt, Thank you all.  Thanks for taking us to the dolphin beach and almost to the end of the world in the peapod.

Also thank you for all the other many amazing experiences during this lovely week.  I do have to write my book eventually, and the Liberty Clipper will be a very good model for the Belmont Clipper in 1915.  Thanks for the best possible introduction to the real life of a sailing ship- although we were far more comfortable than the people I'm writing about would have been.

See you all again, I hope,

Marina Eudicott

New sailor in the Bahamas aboard a windjammer with the Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships!

New sailor in the Bahamas aboard a windjammer with the Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships!

I cannot believe how much fun this week sailing the Exumas with Liberty Clipper was.  For a "new sailor," I had a terrific time.  The crew was terrific, fun, friendly, and professional.  A hard combination to balance.  Also the food was beyond delicious.  I don't know what I was expecting, but certainly not the fantastic meals Jason and company provided.  Best of all, the beautiful seas of the Bahamas.  This gets an A+++ rating.  I loved every moment. My only complaint-it was too short.

Another bucket list checked off! Sailing on a classic tall ship for vacation in the Bahamas!

I had a barefoot cruise on my "bucket list," and now I have done that, in the Bahamas, thanks to the Liberty Clipper!  The weather was hot at first but the water was wonderful.  The crew was very good and nice to be with.  We had good food and great sailing, and Jon was fantastic with his wonderful knowledge of the boat and the Bahamas.  Captain Matt was also great and made all of us feel welcome.  We are looking forward to returning for a second time!

Thanks for a great cruise!

Great crew and food aboard Tall Ship Windjammer in the British Virgin Islands

Great crew and food aboard Tall Ship Windjammer in the British Virgin Islands

Three sailors loved tall ships and knew so much about such ships and about sailing. Even young Scott at only 19 years had lots of sailing experience and was a certified life guard. ALL FOUR went out of their way to be nice and friendly and helpful. Simply OUTSTANDING!! We were very lucky to have four other fun and pleasant co-passengers, especially two of them. So we all did all we could to contribute to the greatest atmosphere and we laughed a lot and got along beautifully all week while enjoying the laid back atmosphere of the BVI's

The food was great! for instance, she prepared for me fried egg plant and fried, seasoned tofu instead of pork roast and other meat entrees. As in most other cases  in restaurants (and stores) in the US, whole grain, healthy choices were scarce. However, Tia's salads were great, including raw cabbage, lettuce, beans, etc. I am extremely impressed by what Tia succeeded to make and bake in that small galley. Her organizational talents were immense, I cannot even imagine how she managed to store and find the ingredients.

Life changing sail training experience aboard the Liberty Clipper windjammer in the Bahamas

Dear Liberty Fleet and Liberty Clipper Crew,

The Drake University group has been back from trip with you in the Bahamas for nearly 48 hours and I, along with the rest of the Drake crew, haven't stopped smiling.  I am so incredibly grateful for the patience, kindness, and overall happiness that we were greeted with and showed continually throughout the entire trip by the crew. This is just how I imagined sailing a tall ship would be!

Thank you greatly to all for forever changing my and my classmates worlds forever.

Very Sincerely,

Katherine C

I am delighted to of been a solo traveler with this group.

Wonderful Crew and Great Time Sailing the Bahamas aboard a classic Tall Ship

Wonderful Crew and Great Time Sailing the Bahamas aboard a classic Tall Ship

What a fantastic trip sailing the Bahamas! The crew did an amazing job anticipating everyone's needs and made sure we all walked away happy - no mean feat with all of our different lists!  :)

Buck checked a lot of his boxes on this trip - Chris and Abe were always patient explaining the intricacies of sailing.  Greg was an excellent rigging and coconut coordinator - Nick, Sam and Christine were great entertainment. Don - Thanks for keeping her running and we loved Sue and Margi's food! The crew speaks volumes about the ship, we loved the Liberty Clipper - we had a wonderful time and would love to come back and Sail the Virgin Islands...

Amazing leadership, Captain and crew aboard my week long Tall Ship Windjammer Vacation in the Bahamas!

Amazing leadership, Captain and crew aboard my week long Tall Ship Windjammer Vacation in the Bahamas!
After being an airline captain for 15 years, I cannot begin to detail to consummate professionalism of Captain Christopher Shaw.  We are currently mid-week in our Bahamas Windjammer Cruise and I am overly impressed by his and his crew's consummate professionalism.  As an airline captain, I appreciate the importance of leadership and leading a crew.  Their standardization is bar none the best I have experienced.  Each maneuver is meticulously handled and there is no question Captain Shaw's command significantly belies his age.  I must say if I had my own boat there is no one I would have captain besides Captain Shaw and there is no question that your boat is in the hands of the most competent, safe captain available - it is truly something to behold.  I will take lessons from watching Captain Shaw manage his crew back to my 767 cockpit. I will plan on sending you a note at the end of the trip, but I asked for your e-mail mid-trip because I did not want to delay my commendation of his exceptional command skills.  Congratulations on choosing a superb Captain and crew, it says a tremendous amount in regards to your business acumen. I look forward to coming back for another Caribbean tall ship sailing cruise.

Regards,

Mary L.

Former barefoot windjammer sailors, now loyal Liberty Clipper fans!

Former barefoot windjammer sailors, now loyal Liberty Clipper fans!

25 years ago Jackie took a bareboat sailing cruise in the BVI and she has been talking about it since we met 15 years ago!

To celebrate our years together, we came to the Bahamas to sail on the Schooner Liberty Clipper and live an adventure together. Little did we know how perfect it would be and how much fun we would have.

Thanks to everyone in the crew for making us part of the experience and helping us feel pampered too!

The depth of relaxation and contentment were profound and having no specific agenda was very freeing. We loved what we did, and what we didn't do!

Thanks for the excellent food, the safe harbor, the singing and dancing, the exploring and most of all the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and warmth of this part of our planet.

Amazing Tall Ship Sail on the Chesapeake Bay for the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race!

Amazing Tall Ship Sail on the Chesapeake Bay for the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race!

Andy, I want to thank you, your schooner and most of all her wonderful crew for the wonderful opportunity to sail on a working schooner. I always enjoy a good sailing experience and I walked away from this one the richer for having been able to sail on a real working sailing ship with a solid deck under my feet. BUT, what completely blew me away was her crew. Liberty Clipper has an amazing mix of deckies and I enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them and watching them work and grow both as individuals and as a team, even during the short time we were there. And then there was Nelle's cooking. I managed to gain a few pounds along the way. Please pass my respects to Tom and Nelle!

I wish you the very best as you and the Liberty Clipper embark on your Bahamas adventure.

Fair winds and following seas, always --

Fred E.
