Off Shore Sailing Adventure on the East Coast aboard a classic Tall Ship!

To the captain and crew of the Liberty Clipper, I cannot express the gratitude I feel for having spent the last 2 weeks on board this boat sailing up the east coast with all of you.  I came to find adventure, escape and peace, and I found all that and more.  You guys are fantastic and your ship is the best!  I'll never forget the time I've had sailing with the Liberty Clipper.

Tall Ship Windjammer cruise on the Liberty Star in the British Virgin Islands

Tall Ship Windjammer cruise on the Liberty Star in the British Virgin Islands

Capt. Carlos, Mate Scott and Cook Tia were warm and welcoming. All shared stories from their life.  Everyone was focused on making sure we were comfortable and happy. The crew spoke highly of Carlos and everyone was working as a team.  Tia, Scott and Carlos balance each other well.  Scott offered great tips on snorkeling, had patience with rigging questions and made it enjoyable to join in hoisting sail on a tall ship!.  I have to say that your team far exceeded my expectations. Tia ROCKS!  The meals were delicious. She made sure we enjoyed the food and asked about our likes and dislikes. Again, she was fantastic - we basically had a personal chef!

This was my first time to the Virgin Islands. I felt like we received an intimate, personal tour of all of the best places including the well known and little known.  Carlos provided history of the area or ship wreck when he knew the history. Everyone had a wonderful personality and felt like family after just one day on board.  I can't say enough about the crew.  I will recommend d this to friends and family. In fact, I hope to get enough to join me to fill the Liberty Star next winter on another cruise in the BVI!

Great crew and food aboard Tall Ship Windjammer in the British Virgin Islands

Great crew and food aboard Tall Ship Windjammer in the British Virgin Islands

Three sailors loved tall ships and knew so much about such ships and about sailing. Even young Scott at only 19 years had lots of sailing experience and was a certified life guard. ALL FOUR went out of their way to be nice and friendly and helpful. Simply OUTSTANDING!! We were very lucky to have four other fun and pleasant co-passengers, especially two of them. So we all did all we could to contribute to the greatest atmosphere and we laughed a lot and got along beautifully all week while enjoying the laid back atmosphere of the BVI's

The food was great! for instance, she prepared for me fried egg plant and fried, seasoned tofu instead of pork roast and other meat entrees. As in most other cases  in restaurants (and stores) in the US, whole grain, healthy choices were scarce. However, Tia's salads were great, including raw cabbage, lettuce, beans, etc. I am extremely impressed by what Tia succeeded to make and bake in that small galley. Her organizational talents were immense, I cannot even imagine how she managed to store and find the ingredients.

Amazing Tall Ship Sail on the Chesapeake Bay for the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race!

Amazing Tall Ship Sail on the Chesapeake Bay for the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race!

Andy, I want to thank you, your schooner and most of all her wonderful crew for the wonderful opportunity to sail on a working schooner. I always enjoy a good sailing experience and I walked away from this one the richer for having been able to sail on a real working sailing ship with a solid deck under my feet. BUT, what completely blew me away was her crew. Liberty Clipper has an amazing mix of deckies and I enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them and watching them work and grow both as individuals and as a team, even during the short time we were there. And then there was Nelle's cooking. I managed to gain a few pounds along the way. Please pass my respects to Tom and Nelle!

I wish you the very best as you and the Liberty Clipper embark on your Bahamas adventure.

Fair winds and following seas, always --

Fred E.
