First timers aboard the Schooner Liberty Star in the BVI's

First timers aboard the Schooner Liberty Star in the BVI's
This was my first sailing trip aboard a windjammer in the Caribbean and it was fabulous. Kyle was a great sailing dinghy captain. Clint was a fantastic leader through the baths and the caves. Cory with his sailing paddle board. Sue, all the food was to die for. And Captain Jon, what a great ride we had with you. I think we'll spend some time in a boat somewhere. The week couldn't have been better. How quickly you all took in four strangers and let us become part of your family. Thank you all so much and remember; "Stay out of my swing!"

Off Shore Sailing Adventure on the East Coast aboard a classic Tall Ship!

Off Shore Sailing Adventure on the East Coast aboard a classic Tall Ship!

To the captain and crew of the Liberty Clipper, I cannot express the gratitude I feel for having spent the last 2 weeks on board this boat sailing up the east coast with all of you.  I came to find adventure, escape and peace, and I found all that and more.  You guys are fantastic and your ship is the best!  I'll never forget the time I've had sailing with the Liberty Clipper.

We had a blast on our Caribbean voyage sailing around the Exuma Islands

We had a blast on our Caribbean voyage sailing around the Exuma Islands

Thank you all so much for a fabulous 2nd voyage sailing the Exumas and birthday (12th anniversary of 29 years!).  The crew is wonderful.  They made us feel like we were rejoining long lost friends.  We loved snorkeling in the cave, the swine island (glad Tenley is fast), the iguanas, and especially an entire week without internet/e-mail/work, and the many Mike sightings.  Thanks for teaching us how to tie knots (Amanda and Sean), for giving the four of us alone time (Kyle, Sean and "Boats").  Also thank you to Jan for the wonderful food and making me special meals for my crazy low sodium diet, for Maggie for sharing laughs and Chris for keeping us safe.  Also loved the puppies!  Thank you all so much.  If you are ever in Aggie land (College Station, TX)- please let us know.

Sincerely,

Heather M. and Tom B.

Our fantastic experience cruising the Caribbean and Eleuthera on a 18th Century Clipper Ship!

Our fantastic experience cruising the Caribbean and Eleuthera on a 18th Century Clipper Ship!

My husband and I didn't know what to expect, but we were not let down.  The crew was very professional while being fun and informative.  It is amazing how hard they work and never complain.  They work like a well oiled machine.  We were lucky to have been on the ship when they had two little puppies they got from a shelter.  They were so loving, cute, fun and helped us with our sadness of leaving our 3 puppies at home.

All the places in the Bahamas we went were wonderful, and we just chilled out.

What a great "family" crew.  We love you all.  I hope to see you again.

An outstanding sailing adventure in the Caribbean aboard a Tall Ship

An outstanding sailing adventure in the Caribbean aboard a Tall Ship

The whole experience was better than I hand hoped for.  Everything was outstanding.  The crew made the adventure enjoyable, fun, entertaining, and certainly tasty,  I can honestly say their was nothing negative about this trip.  The Liberty Clipper, the crew and the other guests.  We plan on sailing the British Virgin Islands on the Liberty Star next year and we will point anybody that is interested in tall ship cruises to Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships.

Thanks so much,

Amazing Sailing cruise in the Bahamas aboard a Windjammer!

Amazing Sailing cruise in the Bahamas aboard a Windjammer!

Our mission on this trip was to have the experience of being on a Tall Ship and finding clean beaches.  Both of these were accomplished.  One of the best parts of the trip is the CREW. They were very friendly and work well together.  Talking to Jan the cook was a lot of fun; she has nice stories, and she went out of her way to cook vegetarian food.  The experience was great.  I was not a big fan of getting into water with the swine, but that's just me, it seems like everyone else liked it.  I enjoyed the snorkeling events best.  The food was great.

Thanks a lot,

Isabel

Dream wedding on the Beach courtesy of a Tall Ship Windjammer in the Bahamas!

Dream wedding on the Beach courtesy of a Tall Ship Windjammer in the Bahamas!

We had our dream island wedding on board the Liberty Clipper.  It was better than our expectations.  Captain chose a perfect spot for the occasion.  Jan and Jason served a perfect dinner topped with a perfect rum cake.  The whole crew and all the passengers joined in the celebration and made our day a PERFECT day and as well as a memorable one.

Former Captain takes on a Tall Ship sailing cruise in the Bahamas!

Former Captain takes on a Tall Ship sailing cruise in the Bahamas!

Captain Chris runs the ship with an easy going authority of one who knows his ship.  He made sure all the passengers had a great time.  The first mate was great also.  All of the crew were friendly and helpful.  Wyn and I enjoyed the trip and will recommend the Liberty Clipper to all.

A relaxing Windjammer barefoot Cruise in the Bahamas

A relaxing Windjammer barefoot Cruise in the Bahamas

What is Luxury?  It means many things to many people.  For us, a week in the Bahamas aboard the Liberty Clipper has been luxury!  To disconnect from a past paced life and reconnect with "life at sea" is a gift.  Sailing, true sailing, on Liberty Clipper allows us to feel the rhythms Mother Nature has so long played.  Snorkeling and swimming right off the ship gives us sweet glimpses of the beauties she offers for us who are lucky enough to enjoy them.  Mere humans are we!

Enough waxing like the moon-Pancho and I thank the great crew for taking good care of us and for being interested in the craft of tall ship sailing.  It is an admirable passion.  Thanks to Jan for providing fine meals from a small galley.

We loved having only 6 passengers and were lucky that we all got along well with much laughter and camaraderie.

We have been windjammer barefoot cruise people in the past, having sailed on the Yankee Clipper, the Polynesia and the Legacy.  They were lots of fun with lots of activities.  I liked this week aboard the Liberty Clipper because we did not have all that- so simple, so relaxing, so often quiet (except for Maggies giggles-so sweet)-so back to what's real.

Thank You all,

My dream vacation sailing a windjammer in the Exuma islands!

My dream vacation sailing a windjammer in the Exuma islands!

Woohoo!

It's hard to find the words to describe the pure joy we found this week aboard the Liberty Clipper.  It wasn't just a vacation in the Caribbean, or an adventure in sailing the Bahamas, or a voyage through the Exuma Isands; it was so much more.  We have dreamed of cruising on a tall ship for years; why did we let life get in the way before!?!  It's all about the memories.  To all of the crew: Captain Matt, Jon, Clint, Derrick, Sean, Tom, Amanda, Jan, and Mike, you wove yourselves into our hearts and memories.  To all-follow your dreams, keep expounding your dreams, and conquer your fears (like climbing to the cross tree platform-how incredible!).

It was so much fun being able to work with the crew on the ship!  We were able to do everything we talked about.  Thank you all for making this a vacation we will remember forever.  May the Lord bless every one of you.

New sailor in the Bahamas aboard a windjammer with the Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships!

New sailor in the Bahamas aboard a windjammer with the Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships!

I cannot believe how much fun this week sailing the Exumas with Liberty Clipper was.  For a "new sailor," I had a terrific time.  The crew was terrific, fun, friendly, and professional.  A hard combination to balance.  Also the food was beyond delicious.  I don't know what I was expecting, but certainly not the fantastic meals Jason and company provided.  Best of all, the beautiful seas of the Bahamas.  This gets an A+++ rating.  I loved every moment. My only complaint-it was too short.

Wonderful Crew and Great Time Sailing the Bahamas aboard a classic Tall Ship

Wonderful Crew and Great Time Sailing the Bahamas aboard a classic Tall Ship

What a fantastic trip sailing the Bahamas! The crew did an amazing job anticipating everyone's needs and made sure we all walked away happy - no mean feat with all of our different lists!  :)

Buck checked a lot of his boxes on this trip - Chris and Abe were always patient explaining the intricacies of sailing.  Greg was an excellent rigging and coconut coordinator - Nick, Sam and Christine were great entertainment. Don - Thanks for keeping her running and we loved Sue and Margi's food! The crew speaks volumes about the ship, we loved the Liberty Clipper - we had a wonderful time and would love to come back and Sail the Virgin Islands...

Amazing leadership, Captain and crew aboard my week long Tall Ship Windjammer Vacation in the Bahamas!

Amazing leadership, Captain and crew aboard my week long Tall Ship Windjammer Vacation in the Bahamas!
After being an airline captain for 15 years, I cannot begin to detail to consummate professionalism of Captain Christopher Shaw.  We are currently mid-week in our Bahamas Windjammer Cruise and I am overly impressed by his and his crew's consummate professionalism.  As an airline captain, I appreciate the importance of leadership and leading a crew.  Their standardization is bar none the best I have experienced.  Each maneuver is meticulously handled and there is no question Captain Shaw's command significantly belies his age.  I must say if I had my own boat there is no one I would have captain besides Captain Shaw and there is no question that your boat is in the hands of the most competent, safe captain available - it is truly something to behold.  I will take lessons from watching Captain Shaw manage his crew back to my 767 cockpit. I will plan on sending you a note at the end of the trip, but I asked for your e-mail mid-trip because I did not want to delay my commendation of his exceptional command skills.  Congratulations on choosing a superb Captain and crew, it says a tremendous amount in regards to your business acumen. I look forward to coming back for another Caribbean tall ship sailing cruise.

Regards,

Amazing Tall Ship Sail on the Chesapeake Bay for the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race!

Amazing Tall Ship Sail on the Chesapeake Bay for the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race!

Andy, I want to thank you, your schooner and most of all her wonderful crew for the wonderful opportunity to sail on a working schooner. I always enjoy a good sailing experience and I walked away from this one the richer for having been able to sail on a real working sailing ship with a solid deck under my feet. BUT, what completely blew me away was her crew. Liberty Clipper has an amazing mix of deckies and I enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them and watching them work and grow both as individuals and as a team, even during the short time we were there. And then there was Nelle's cooking. I managed to gain a few pounds along the way. Please pass my respects to Tom and Nelle!

I wish you the very best as you and the Liberty Clipper embark on your Bahamas adventure.

Fair winds and following seas, always --

Fred E.
